Out and about
Most of the week was our normal routine – venturing out for playgroup sessions and trips to the local shops.
Our Tuesday playgroup had a mini concert booked, which was a nice change of pace – but unfortunately, it meant Pumpkin didn’t spend the two hours running around and exhausting herself, so I had to work a bit harder to get her down for a nap that day.
On Saturday, we headed into London for the afternoon – and to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary.
The day started out a bit rough as I had a terrible headache in the morning, but I persevered and after some ibuprofen and a latte at a Sainsbury’s cafe, I was feeling much better. We stopped to get Pumpkin a new pair of shoes at Clarks and then made our way into town.
Daddy-man and I had a lovely lunch at one of our favourite restaurants, the Diner in Seven Dials. It serves American food and Pumpkin actually slept through the whole meal, which meant it was a nice and relaxing celebration.
Before we went home, we also stopped at Patisserie Valerie for some yummy cakes, which we took home and had for dinner. It’s okay to have cake for dinner on your wedding anniversary. I read that somewhere.
Fun at home
We discovered Twirlywoos and Mr Tumble this week. Pumpkin absolutely loves them and they’ve been a bit of a lifesaver for me, as it means I can get a bit of work done during the day while she watches them over and over. Thank goodness for the Sky Box too.
As usual, she has also enjoyed spending time running up and down the hallways outside our flat. She really has a thing for one of the neighbour’s door mats.
She has also really taken to stacking cups lately, so I recently bought her a bunch of plastic cups from Wilkinson’s. She’ll spend half an hour stacking cups in different configurations.
My favourite moment was…
Our quiet lunch in London was very nice.
I’m also really enjoying Pumpkin’s latest habit, which is to pull Daddy-man’s glasses off and then giving him a big kiss. I don’t know why she won’t kiss him with his glasses on, but it’s adorable.
This week last year in photos:
- 1. Feet. Yummmm.
2. Modelling on the big blue chair.
3. Mummy-baby selfie.
4. With Daddy-man at the Democrats Abroad 4th of July picnic.
5. A watched tot never flips.
6. Decorated for the 4th of July picnic.
7. Her impression of a Georgian lady.
8. Not-so-sure about this bib thing.
9. Another Mummy-baby selfie.
Lovely pictures as always! I agree cakes are definitely allowed on anniversaries, and birthdays, and any celebration for that matter! X
I bought Clara some new stacking cups at the weekend – they were only 1.50 in Ikea. It was our anniversary this week too, lots of celebrations!
I like that Pumpkin is pushing a pram with wine, that is very classy! #myweekataglance
Happy Anniversary. Hope you had a lovely day. Love the new girlie shoes. Unusual to have a band at playgroup, but what a really good idea to introduce the little ones to live music……played properly!

Happy anniversary. What a lovely year to have a quiet lunch! And yes, cake for dinner is always ok on special occasions (and Tuesdays ;-)) #myweekataglance
