I am a bit of a technophile, so when I first started using Kickstarter earlier this year, I think Shannon was a bit worried we would end up with a house full of cheap tech tat and some gaming stuff.
My first purchase finally arrived yesterday. Keeping with the Kickstarter tradition of things never going entirely to plan, the project was delayed and missed its original shipment date.
However, Shannon was pleasantly surprised to discover that the item that arrived was not, in fact, a piece of technology but a bit of furniture. Bookniture to be exact.
Bookniture was a project by a Chinese design student who wanted to create a book that could be transformed into a small stool or table.
Each book is around 12 inches high and as thick as an Argos catalogue.
They are really well crafted with leather covers, and they fold out completely around the spine into beautifully segmented pieces of origami. The covers click together with two magnets.
Once assembled, you put a felt topper on and sit yourself down.
Each seat is capable of sustaining weights in excess of 1,000 kg – just enough for my dad bod
They may have been late, but I was pleased with the product and am looking forward to the rest of my Kickstarter investments arriving throughout the the year.
We have a card game still to come this month (the massively backed Exploding Kittens, created by the author of the Oatmeal), a board game is expected in a couple of months and there’s also an intriguing dinosaur toy, which can understand and interact with Pumpkin and grow along with her intellectual development.
I hope you enjoyed the first Daddy-man post, and do check out Kickstarter – just be aware that not all products make it, and you could lose out on your cash.
