Review: Price & Kensington Brights Tea for One

You don’t have to spend much time around me to learn that I’m a coffee drinker. I love coffee. I pretty much have to have a cup of it in order to complete anything other than basic functions in the morning and if I ever “go out for a drink” I’d take a coffee shop over a pub any day.

coffee

Of course, There are times when a cup of tea just hits the spot, but for the most part I prefer coffee.

On the other hand, my husband is a big fan of tea – I’m pretty sure his family could keep Tetley’s in business all on their own. A prominent feature of any visit to the in-laws is the constant flow of tea. Honestly, their poor kettle is almost always on.

However, Hubby really only likes tea when it’s made the proper way – in a teapot. None of this brewing-in-the-cup malarkey for him. But making a whole pot of tea for just one person always seems a bit silly, so when we’re at home, he doesn’t get a cuppa as often as he’d probably like.

I’d previously considered getting him a tea for one set, but never got around to it. So when I got the opportunity to review one for BuyCatering.com, I jumped at the chance.

After a particularly difficult bedtime for Pumpkin on Sunday night, I felt like I needed to wind down a bit before heading to bed myself. A cup of camomile and some toast sounded perfect to me – and it would give me the chance to try the tea set.

This Price & Kensington tea for one set is part of the brand’s Brights range. The orange colour of the teapot I received was certainly bright and bold and the collection includes a number of other lovely colours as well.

The set includes three pieces: a nice big teacup. I really like the round bowl shape – perfect for holding in two hands on a chilly day.

There’s also the teapot and its little lid. Everything looked well made. The finish was smooth and even, while the stoneware felt nice and thick – great for keeping in the heat.

The teapot and cup also stack together. This means you can carry the whole thing with one hand while the tea is still brewing. It also heats up the teacup before serving and saves a bit of cupboard space when not in use.

I popped in the teabag, poured in some hot water and let it brew while I made some toast. Then I poured out my chamomile, added a splash of milk (I know that’s controversial), then sat back and relaxed on the sofa in our silent flat. Bliss!

My only complaint about this set is the same complaint I have about most tea pots: it drips when you pour out the tea.

To be honest, this is such a common problem, I’m beginning to think I’m pouring tea the wrong way or something. Are all the teapots having a go at me for being American? Are they paying me back for my ancestors dumping all that tea into Boston harbour?

I’M SORRY TEA AND TEAPOTS! Please stop leaking on me.

Anyway, like I said, this is a common issue with teapots, so I wouldn’t hold it against this particular set too much. But, seriously teapot manufacturers – get this sorted.

Other than that little flaw, I do quite like this little tea set and will be using it often this winter, as it will be perfect for those times when Hubby wants a tea and I want a coffee. Well done little teapot, for solving a minor marital woe.

BuyCatering.com sent me the Price & Kensington Brights Tea for One set for review purpose. I received no monetary incentive, but was allowed to keep the item in return for an honest review.

  1. This sounds perfect, especially as it all stacks together. We are like you, prefer out coffee, but the odd tea does go down nicely. I shall be having a little look ready for xmas presents… I have someone perfect in mind for this. 🙂 #triedtested

  2. That is really clever and very handy…..I haven’t had a cup of tea out of a teapot for years….It does taste better that way 🙂 x

    • Lol. I don’t get the whole tea from a teapot thing… Hubby says it’s because I’m American and my tastebuds aren’t refined enough. Cheeky. Thanks for the comment. 🙂

  3. I have never found a teapot that doesn’t drip when you pour! Love the way this one stacks together. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
