Out and about
On Sunday last week, we attempted to go ‘bear hunting’ – searching for Paddington statues in London. But Pumpkin was teething and in a terrible mood, plus it started raining, so our day got cut short after just four bears found. We made up for that yesterday, though, with another trip into the Big Smoke – we bagged 11 bears plus took a moment to say hello to the permanent statue of the furry little Peruvian at Paddington Station.
On Friday, we went to the Greenwich & Lewisham Sling Library to get a new baby carrier. We ended up with a Manduca to try for a few weeks. I really liked it while there, and on the way home. But when I tried to put it on again, it was an absolute disaster. I definitely need practice and maybe an instructional video. May be spending some time on YouTube later…
Fun at home
I feel like we haven’t really been at home enough to say much of interest here. Monday at Tuesday I tried to work from home – but that certainly wasn’t fun…
Oh, I mentioned last week that we got new light fixtures? Well since then, every single bulb that came with those fixtures has burned out. On Friday afternoon, I tried to replace them, but couldn’t get the bulbs out. I felt like such an idiot not being able to change a lightbulb. But they’re GU10s and fit really snugly in the holders. I must have spent half an hour trying to get them out. Then I called Hubby, Face-timed my father-in-law and even reached out on Twitter for help. Eventually, I found someone on a forum who said to use blobs of blue tack for grip. It worked like a charm.
Okay, so that wasn’t really ‘fun’ at home either. That was more ‘annoying’ and ‘almost fell off step-stool several times’. It’s the best I can do though.
Time for me
On Wednesday afternoon, after Mini Montessori, I realised that I have been ‘wasting’ Pumpkin’s nap time with trying to get home. She sleeps quietly on the bus and then wakes up when we get home. That means I don’t really get any down time.
So I decided to try something new: we went to the near-by Asda cafe and I enjoyed a coffee and a biscuit while she slept. I spent some time mucking around on Twitter and Facebook and there was also some people watching, as I was in a seat by the window.
When she finally woke up, that’s when we headed home. But it was really nice to have that little break in the afternoon. I think it may become a regular thing!
My happiest moment was…
Pumpkin is standing! She figured it out once or twice earlier in the week – but now she has completely mastered her technique. To the point where she’s only using one hand to hold herself up and even bending down to pick things up.
Oh, lord, that means she’ll be walking soon, doesn’t it?
Next week I would like to try…
I’m not planning on trying anything new this week – not exactly. But it is Thanksgiving on Thursday!!! We celebrate on Saturday since Thursday is a bit inconvenient for most people. Lots of food – even more pies. Mmm. I’m really looking forward to it. But it does mean I need to get the house cleaned and all that food prepared – something I’ve never done with the baby around. Should be interesting!

Love this, it sounds like such a lovely week! Mini Montessori sounds like fun too! Thanks for linking up with #WeekendBlogHop!
Thanks. Yeah, the Mini Montessori is fab!
Sounds like a lovely week. Oh I miss nap time! That was my time to blog, waste time on social media and take time out! Gone are those days so enjoy while you can. Lovely pictures x #TWTWC
Nap time is already significantly less than I would like – and it will only continue to dwindle… Thanks for the comment.
Sounds like a fab week.
The light thing may not have been fun but it did make me laugh – only because we’re having similar issues in our house with our new light fittings. We are sat in the dark most nights as we still haven’t arranged an electrician to come over and take a look at our wiring.
Fab photos as always. I love Pumpkin’s bear sleepsuit. Where is it from?
Happy thanksgiving.

Oh dear. I hope you get the wiring sorted soon. It’s getting dark so early now! The sleepsuit came from her Grandma in the US – she has sent us several very cute ones, but that one is one of my favourites!
Yay to Pumpkin standing! It really won’t be long now til she takes those first few steps. I’m so excited for both of you! 🙂
Your me time sounds perfect. Nothing like a cuppa and a biit of people watching to recharge the batteries.
Have a happy Thanksgiving! Vx

Your week sounds great, I love the idea of the Paddington ‘bear hunting’ in London. I have never heard of a sling library before, can you literally just borrow baby carriers like you do books?
Your light bulb situation sounds very stressful, I’m lucky to have an electrician for a husband as I wouldn’t have a clue where to start. Well done for sticking with it and getting them changed =)
Congratulations to Pumpkin for standing by herself, what a clever girl!
Have a great Thanksgiving, I hope there will be some pics of the food next week xx
Ah happyThanksgiving for tomorrow! I will look forward to pics!
Haha yes walking will soon follow, you have a month to prepare lol!
Love the Paddington hunt, I don’t imagine I will have time to get down there to see them, I never think to go to London but it is so close to us- 30 mins on the train!
Have a good week and thanks for joining in our #HappyDaysLinky xx
I love Pumpkin’s sleeping positions! So cute! The Paddington trail sounds like fun 🙂
